Phorm

Postby mpitt » Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:10 am

There has been a number of stories going around the media, now confirmed, that BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk have been involved in secret browsing habit trials with a company called Phorm (in BTs case for over 12 months).

In other words these companies have been allowing Phorm to see what web pages customers are viewing, and then selling this activity to advertisers to target adverts [Ed: sounds like spyware to me].

Rumours are that Phorm are working with many more ISPs in the UK, which maybe the case, especially with larger ISPs who will be using this as a revenue stream.

However, following calls/emails into Customer Services from concerned customers, I would like to stress that Aquiss is not working with Phorm, never have and never will. This would be considered a breach of our own trust and privacy guidelines with customers.

For those with friends with the mentioned ISPs, and where they are yet to have seen the light by moving to ourselves  , it maybe worth stressing to them this recent news.
